"'Charlie And The Boys' is a labor of love. We've poured our hearts and souls into creating a film that will leave audiences both spellbound and entertained." - Sele Got
Loosely based on the popular Swedish film, “Jönnsonligan”, “Charlie And The Boys” tells the story of Charles Omokwe, a charismatic mastermind and his team of cunning accomplices as they orchestrate a heist that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats. It was directed by Sele Got and stars Kanayo O. Kanayo, Tina Mba, Sani Mu’azu, Seun Ajayi, Loud Voice, Lantana Ahmed, Erica Bale, Marten Skog, Petter Sivlér, Frederick Skog, and Gloria Lemmy-Johnson. It was written by Nwamaka Chikezie and shot in Abuja and Dubai. Attendees were treated to an exclusive first look at the groundbreaking film that beautifully blends Swedish and Nigerian culture and storytelling.
In her opening address, Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, Annika Hahn-Englund, underscored the significance of cultural exchange through cinema, citing the burgeoning trade relations between Nigeria and Sweden, now standing at four hundred million US dollars. She reiterated her office’s commitment to strengthening these trade ties further.
Director Sele Got shared his excitement about the project, stating, " 'Charlie And The Boys' is not just a film, it is a labour of love. We've poured our hearts into creating a film that is locally relevant and globally relatable. It is a story of redemption, camaraderie, and the bond between a group of unlikely heroes. These characters are flawed, relatable, and above all, incredibly human, making their journey all the more compelling."
