The Other One Bags Three Nominations at the 20th Abuja International Film Festival

In a thrilling turn of events, "The Other One," has been nominated in three significant categories including Best Feature at the 20th Abuja International Film Festival (AIFF). Produced by Lillian Amah-Aluko’s New Dawn Productions and directed by David Gee Ahanmisi, the movie has received nominations for Best Feature, Outstanding Actor (Kelechi Udegbe), and Outstanding Actress (Lucy Ameh).

"The Other One" weaves a gripping narrative around the life of Jumai, an on-air personality portrayed by Lucy Ameh, best known for her role in Netflix's 'Amina.' Jumai's life takes a horrifying twist when she is kidnapped by a fan played by Nollywood actor Kelechi Udegbe. In an attempt to liberate herself, Jumai resorts to a dangerous game of deception which soon takes a dark and twisted turn.


Released in cinemas across Nigeria on June 30, 2023, and distributed by Tribe Nation Theatrical Distribution, "The Other One" delves deep into a myriad of contemporary themes, such as love, marriage, fame, insecurity, mental health, pregnancy, and child welfare. Kelechi Udegbe's portrayal of the villainous kidnapper, Mandela, has earned him a well-deserved nomination for Outstanding Actor. Lucy Ameh, who brought Jumai's character to life, has been recognized with a nomination for Outstanding Actress.
